New funding for ICT support centres – information for partners

December’s Smarter Government report pledged £30m to UK online centres to get one million digitally and socially excluded people online by the end of 2012. The majority of that money will go directly to ICT delivery and support centres, and the first round of grant funding is open now.

We’re delighted to have been able to kick-off activity so quickly, but we need your support to help spread the word to grassroots digital inclusion practitioners across England.

Applications are welcomed from any ICT support centre meeting our criteria and willing to become a member of the UK online centres network to deliver their funded project. Over the next three years, many hundreds of centres will benefit from funding, and from being part of a building network - sharing resources and expertise, taking advantage of new products, services, training opportunities and marketing campaigns.

In order to help you promote this funding opportunity and the wider three year programme, we’ve put together a pack of useful tools:

We do hope you are able to make use of these materials. Please do note the application deadline of 10 February 2010, and do direct centres to www.ukonlinecentres.com/corporate/regions-and-network/funding for more information.

In the meantime, if you or your networks have any questions or queries, please contact us at ukonlinecentres@ufi.com.

Getting one million people online by the end of 2012 is an ambitious target, but by working together we can make the Government’s investment work its hardest for real people in real places.
